Know fear

01May10

Whether a violent confrontation, public speaking or just being afraid of that spider, at some point in your life you will encounter {FEAR} of sum description.

What is fear? Often described as an unpleasant, strong emotion caused by anticipation of awareness of danger.

Fear often causes immobilization, or freeze syndrome in the recipient.

POSITIVE BODY ACCELERATOR

Your positive body accelerator is action, when you act by confronting your fear, adrenalin is utilized positively, adding vigor to your response if controlled.

NEGATIVE BODY ACCELERATOR

Your negative body accelerator is panic, caused when the reasoning process mistakes adrenalin for fear. Excess adrenalin is triggered by panic {but not utilized} and the body is flooded, leaving the recipient overwhelmed and often frozen in the face of ensuing danger.

A FEW HOME TRUTHS

* As long as you continue to learn and grow, fear will never go away.

* The only way to overcome the fear of doing something is to go out and do it.

* One of the best ways to feel better and get stronger is to go out and do it.

* Everyone feels fear, especially in unfamiliar territory.

Hence why this article is labelled Know fear and {Not} No fear. I believe the latter is untrue. So whilst I could go on into many more ways to describe fear, I would like to make everyone aware that nothing is impossible and nothing is unachievable.

Whether or not you are look to achieve greatness in the martial arts, career or home life, believe in yourself, take a deep breath……..you can do it.

After 17 years of training, sparring and competing with some talented opponents I have found that the Inner Opponent is the deciding factor in how well you perform. Dealing with those doubts in your mind of “maybe he is better” or “he has had 50 fights” etc does not help in the slightess. At the end of the day it comes down to expectations coupled with the urge to prove something, whether it be to oneself or others. After coming to the conclusion it is not about winning or losing but more about the journey and not the destination, my game went through the roof. Once changing your mindset to focus on not having to prove anything and just PLAYING “NOT” COMPETING, you will not only improve your game but it will be so much more enjoyable. The CrazyMonkeyDefense Program always looks to stress this to all clients because not only is it a healthier attitude but once learnt it will open a variety of things to you, in and out of the gym, that you thought maybe otherwise be impossible.

I believe Women’s self-defence courses have lost their way over the years, making them full of fancy trick wrist locks and pre-empted moves. In the real world such techniques just do not cut it. When faced with such aggression, adrenaline kicks in. This, coupled with loss of motor skills and everything else that our body will encounter, leaves you with minimal techniques that will actually be pulled off in this zone. Commencing early 2010, Crazymonkeyaustralia will be offering workshops based on intelligent training methodology from a positive perspective. Coaching you on how your body will react in high stress situations in conjuction with working through stress innoculated drills to enhance your ability to defend yourself.

In the everyday fight game there seems to be a lack of structure behind the stance, punch etc. In the CMDP first and foremost there must be, what we call drivers. These simple but vastly overlooked points consist of Tight
structure, Active Balance, CM defense and Adaptive conditioning. Often I hear people saying  that I cant get my defense, striking, takedowns etc working. One reason I have found was that they lacked any form of (drivers). So taking into consideration the fundamentals which are the drivers, my belief is they should be trained to perfection which intern will alow a whole range of options leading you where you want your game to go.

With all the competative classes going on around , people wearing unecessary shots and not learning everytime they spar Crazymonkey Australia kicks off its first of many sat sparring classes for CMD clients only, giving clients from all back grounds (LAW ENFORCEMENT,SECURITY,CORPORATE, EVERDAY GUYS AND GIRLS)  to hop on the mats with no competative edge just to improve there physical skills and learn something about themselves that can only be achieved through sparring in a PLAYFUL non-ego enviroment.I look forward to coaching and sparring with all clients, creating bonds and keeping sharp in future classes to come.
